Lake Jocassee Labor Day 2012
http://www.lakejocassee.com/
This is a link to information about Lake Jocassee in Salem, SC.
Lake Jocassee has a very interesting history and was named after a Cherokee Indian maiden Jocassee, daughter of Chief Attakulla. Legend has it that she walked across the water to meet her beloved that had been killed by her brother.
These were taken at Lake Jocassee in South Carolina I believe. Lake Jocassee is in Oconee County. This is a beautiful lake. I've been a few times. I'm not much into boating although we've been there boating a few times. We have friends who like to go boating there as well. It's a popular lake and the last time we went was in September 2012. It's a great lake to swim in too. When we there Labor Day if I'm not mistaken, I just remembered that, it was packed and it was still hot. I can't stand to go to SC in the hottest part of the summer. Besides, I was in Michigan where the weather was nice, warm but nice, not too hot.
I was in SC in June and went to the outlet stores because it so hot I oculd barely stand to get out of my car to take pictures. It was over 100 degrees in SC and I think it got to 110 degrees a few times. It was during the summer heat wave of 2012. Afterwards I decided I wouldn't be going back any time soon, not with that heat. And my next trip took me to Michigan and Wisconsin. Green Bay to be exact. I also went to Marinette and came back down Hwy 2 into Michigan. I didn't make it to Iron River and Iron Mountain like I did the year before.
I know I won't be going to SC during the summer of this year because the AC lines and accumulator need to be repaired on my car. All the refrigerant leaked out due to leaky lines. It will cost around $500 to fix. I found out before the car was diagnosed with it's current diagnosis of a failed fuel pump that's going to cost $610 with the replacement of the fuel filter too. That was replaced at the dealership in Ohio(that ripped me off on the replacement of struts) or at least it supposed to be replaced. Considering while they had my car(they had it a couple of days to get all the work done) one of the technicians ransacked my car and went through my stuff who knows if they did everything they were supposed to do.
Because of the AC problem(which I really hate because it had such a great AC system, the AC compressor was replaced a few thousand miles before this AC problem) I won't be going to SC unless I drive something else and only if I have to. It is so hot, just like Florida.
I'm sure this makes Lake Jocassee a very popular spot in the summer. Especially when it's hot. I'm sure the water feels good when it's really hot. I haven't been in the water when it's extremely hot. The last two years have been spent in Michigan rather than anywhere in the south. I also like Kentucky. I spent a fair amount of time there last year and the year before too.
I'll stop my rambling for now.

Mexican Jalapeno Sweet N Spicy Bean Soup Crockpot Recipe
Date: February 11, 2013
Just today my husband decided to make this. He didn't find the recipe on the internet. This is his recipe. When he wants a crockpot recipe he usually just makes something that is his.
In a small crockpot: Cook on High for 6 hours
Two cans of maple flavored pork n beans
One can of RoTel hot diced tomatoes with habaneros
One pouch of taco rice
Eight sliced jalapeno peppers
One half cup of sweet bell pepper strips(you buy these on the pickle aisle)
One pepperoncini pepper(this is more for garnish but it adds flavoring too)
If you want to kick it one more notch on the hot level you can add one teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
He added no spices but you can salt and pepper to taste if you prefer.
In a big crockpot or for a bigger family you can simply double the recipe.
Steam a stack of flour tortilla's and eat the soup with tortilla's or you can have it with sandwiches(my personal favorite).
Serve with your favorite frozen Margarita. Your friends will love you. Or if you're serving for a family with children you can always serve it with virgin(alcohol free) Margaritas.
This recipe sounds like it is really hot but in actuality it isn't that hot. I was kind of surprised. Only recently after I started eating alot of pepperoncini's did hotter stuff like peppers stopped bothering my stomach. And now I eat jalapeno's almost every day.
